Truro 3 Arts Society are very grateful for the generous response to our request for donations to enable the purchase of a new instrument for society use. We are delighted to inform you that Truro 3 Arts has reached their fundraising target and the society has now purchased a brand-new Yamaha C7X. The piano has been delivered and is settling into its new home at Truro College, where it will be used for Truro 3 Arts concerts and student workshops. Advanced music students studying at Truro College will also benefit from this purchase.
We are already working on an exciting project to commission a new work for solo piano which will be performed by Philip James Leslie, who grew up in Hayle and is currently undertaking postgraduate studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland as a Trust Scholar. The performance will take place during our 75th season as part of our jubilee celebrations.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank David Fryer, Juliet Lingham and Richard Lingham for conducting our fundraising campaign. Their activities enabled our committee to keep their focus on planning an outstanding programme for our regular concert series, and we are in this fortunate position because of their commitment. Juliet and Richard Lingham's summer soiree was an event to remember, with the support of Paul Drayton and Jesse Giuliani who donated their time and expertise to our cause. David Fryer was instrumental in facilitating the arrangements for our Gala Concert on Friday 4th October at Truro Methodist Church. This event saw musicians of all ages and experiences come together in support of our Grand Piano Appeal and Cornwall Music Service Trust's Music Therapy programme.
My greatest thanks, on behalf of our society, goes to every donor whose support has made this success possible. I hope that many of you will join us at our regular concert series to hear the new piano in action!
