The Atrium Quartet rose to prominence when, in 2003, at the Wigmore Hall, they won first prize in the London International String Quartet Competition. In 2007 they won the prestigious Bordeaux competition. They were founded in 2000 in the St.Petersburg Conservatoire and have since appeared at major festivals such as Aix-en-Provence and Orlando. Their discography is substantial including the Beethoven and Shostakovich quartets. "Gramophone" magazine said of a Mozart recording  " from the first bars....we can appreciate the Quartet's beautiful balance and blend of sounds... and that the music is being played with real understanding" At Truro we will hear Haydn, the interesting Arensky 2nd. Quartet and the mighty last Quartet of Schubert Op.l6l.
